Monday of last week, I was flipping around the television channels to see what was on when I happened upon I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here so I thought I would watch the first little bit to see what "celebrities" were desperate enough for a few more minutes of fame to participate. I knew there wouldn't be any A-Listers...but I was shocked that I only knew who TWO of those people were.
Now I know that I'm not the coolest, hippest person around, but I watch a lot of TV (more than I should, I admit it) so I was really surprised that the only ones that I recognized was Stephen Baldwin and Lou Diamond Phillips. So I Tivo'ed the first episode so I could satisfy my curiosity. (Tivo is the greatest invention ever! I can watch the show in fast forward and skip around and only see what I want to see)
Anyway...after watching bits and pieces of it, I did recognize Heidi Montag's name. I read an interesting article a while back at Big Hollywood about Hollywood's prejudice against stars who love them some Jesus. It hypothesizes that conservatism in general but Christianity in particular is the new blacklist. Her name was one listed as a publicly professed Christian.
After watching I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, though, I was so irritated. She and her husband (another "celebrity" I've never heard of) exemplified everything that Hollywood loves to mock about Christianity. I wanted to reach through the television and grab her by the shoulders and just shake her and scold her for behaving like that and letting the show use her to denigrate all Christians.
Imagine Joe Average is invited to a church function by a friend. Maybe he decides "hey, it sounds like fun; I think I'll go". But now, because of the wacko image that this "Christian" has put out there, Joe Average will think to himself "Dude, no way am I getting involved in that weirdness!"
Our liberal media loves to portray Christians in the worst light possible; to link us all to the Fred Phelps crazies and abortion clinic bombers. We certainly don't need to help them along in their quest to make us all look like nut jobs.
I like the lifestyle of the stars of hollywood, hopefully will give me the opportunity to get to have this lifestyle, full of glamor, luxury, sex, party, money, fame, facilities. That envy.

Just for today I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

which are another example of what some people call the "lexicalist hypothesis", a view that has occasionally -- but erroneously -- been inferred from some previous writings of mine. Since my linguistic creativity is infinite, I can categorically state that there aren't templates of any sort.
